Activities in Aspen, CO

Aspen, one of Colorado's most wonderful year-round resort areas, is situated at the upper end of the Roaring Fork Valley and the Roaring Fork River. With a pleasant climate, beautiful scenery, challenging outdoor recreation, and abundant cultural activities, Aspen is a place for everyone. Aspen is world renowned for its downhill skiing and advanced mountain terrain. Its unique location offers plenty of outdoor activities and non-stop events during both summer and winter!

Skiing

The Aspen area offers four resort mountains, each with its own unique features and required skill sets. With a majority of the mountains focusing on intermediate to advanced skiing, Aspen is the true pinnacle of skiing.

Biking

Challenging terrain and awesome outlooks define the Aspen wilderness areas. Aspen has plenty of mountain biking and road biking trails that range from beginner to advanced, including trails to the popular Maroon Bells.

Hiking

Most of Aspen is wilderness, with hundreds of hiking trails. From lakes to rivers to mountain peaks, trails can take hours or days to complete. Aspen is truly a hiker's paradise!

  • Aspen Songwriters Festival

    March 21-25, 2012

    Experience live music in an intimate setting with some of the most creative songwriters. The festival provides great experiences because it tries hardest to shorten the distance between the performer and the audience.

  • Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series

    January 20 - March 23, 2012

    Free outdoor concert series accompanying major events throughout the season. Upcoming dates are Jan. 20 Winter X Games, Feb. 20 President's Day, Mar. 18 Spring Jam, and Mar. 23 Spring Jam.

  • Big Air Fridays

    Fridays, February 10 - March 30, 2012

    Athletes and the occasional vacationer show off their newest tricks each Friday for weekly prizes. Big Air Fridays is in its tenth year at Snowmass. Come see the new and progressive tricks off the 40-foot jump on Fanny Hill.
